Boutique Business

Has anyone started their own boutique business? I am looking into various ways to open up my own business.
I have contemplated a bakery, as our area does not have one. We are also lacking in the vintage\cute retail options. I feel like we could use a place to sell amateur art (like from the AU or surround college students).

Opinions, or stories to tell?

Going Digital

Well, I got a little  swamped with school and life for a while there, but I am back! I am actually currently in Columbia visiting my family, and this break has just pushed me into a creative phase. I will have plenty of posts coming up soon. For now though, I thought I'd share my bit of afternoon delight: digital scrapbooking.

I have finished a digital scrapbook page before, but now I am hoping to really get into it. I am moving into an apartment soon and we are in need of nifty decorating\memories to hang about the walls.

The best part, you can do digital scrapbooking, basically free! I am using a software, call GIMP. You can find it here. It is a free program, that seriously does just about everything that Photoshop can (including layers, tools, ect).
You can also get all of your supplies without ever having to leave your house. No more running out of flower embellishments and realizing that Hobby Lobby is closed! Of course, if you like the 3-d aspect of embellishments, you can always make your page mixed-media. There are tons of great websites that offer free downloads of amazing kits and embellishments. My personal favorite is Shabby Princess.

For example, check out this cute embellishment:

I will post my own pages asap, and I would love to see any that you have created!

Boyfriend Promotion

I just had to share my amazing day with everyone. Last night I decided to change my major to communications. I will lose my full-ride to college. I will gain an enjoyable college experience. I am planning on renting an apartment with my 2 best friends.

My boyfriend surprised me today with six seasons of my favorite tv show: The Office.
This makes all of my stress a lot easier to deal with.

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
Did you know that the color originally associated with this holiday was blue?

Today I spent with my family, and at the funeral of my uncle. It has been a hard past week really. Hopefully later tonight I will get into some craftiness!

In other news - I put up a hammock in my yard. It is amazing.

Wednesday Watch: Chalkboard Paint

Every Wednesday I will post a tutorial that I think is worth mentioning - and fantastic! Today's Wednesday Watch goes to Curbly's DIY Maven.

It is on how to make your own Chalkboard Paint, in ANY color you wish! The whole process only needs 3 ingredients - acrylic paint, glazing medium, and unsanded tile grout.

Check out all of the steps here: Chalkboard Paint

Just think of all the things you can draw on! Perfect for kids who like to draw on walls, and even the adults too of course!

Suggested Ideas: Doors, Fridges, Walls, Drawers, Tables, Cabinets, Vases & Pots, Creating a mural of chalk, ect.

Yours Truly,

Cup of Charm Begins!

Welcome to my new art blog! This will be dedicated to my art and any crafts that I make.
Hopefully I will progress to being able to sell some things - and add tutorials!
Feel free to ask me any questions!
